Software Quality Engineer

Job Summary
This role will be responsible for performing software quality related tasks including design, development, troubleshooting and debugging software applications for software enhancements and new products development. This position is based in our corporate office, located in Bethesda, MD.

Key Responsibilities

  • Aids in ensuring the quality of medical device software and continuous improvement of software development practices

  • Use virtualized test environment and internal/external automatic testing tools to ensure that software requirements are implemented correctly

  • Collaborate closely with software development and systems engineers in the Bethesda, MD office

  • Develop and execute functional test scripts (both manual and automated regression) for custom-developed BrainScope software applications

  • Develop and facilitate the execution of acceptance test scripts for commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software and Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) applications

  • Support change control management of software application development, in coordination with the software development teams

  • Participate in constructive peer review of code changes and test scripts

  • Assist in gathering evidence during audits and regulatory inspections

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s and 4+ years, or Master’s and 2+ years’ experience in biomedical, software, or other related engineering

  • Experience with product development in a regulated environment, including medical device standards such as IEC 62304, IEC 60601, ISO 13485 and 21 CFR Part 820

  • Demonstrated understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC)

  • Strong experience authoring tests using frameworks like Espresso and Cucumber

  • Strong experience in Behavior Driven Development testing frameworks

  • Experience working with continuous integration tools to monitor test automation (Jenkins)

  • Experience writing tests that exercise Android and Cloud-based/SaaS applications

  • Understanding Android, .NET, C#, and .NET Core

  • Understanding of Java and C#

  • Working knowledge of performance, scalability, and stress testing

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal skills

  • Flexibility, willingness to learn, and a demonstrated ability to come up to speed quickly on new technologies and technical issues

  • Ability to operate effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-oriented culture that emphasizes professional development

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced entrepreneurial culture
