Senior AI/Machine Learning Classification Engineer

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Machine Learning Classification Engineer to work in our corporate office, located in Bethesda, MD. The ideal candidate will have machine learning/AI experience preferably in a life sciences or medical device field to work as part of a Research and Development team on novel applications for identification of TBI using brain electrical activity and other inputs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Researches, develops, and applies novel signal processing and data fusion techniques to the analysis of EEG waveforms and other multiparameter inputs
  • Develops and evaluates classification and feature selection strategies (logistic regression, evolutionary algorithms and other methodologies) and algorithms for optimization of overall performance using Matlab/R/Python
  • Manages project planning and execution for the algorithm development team
  • Serves as interface to other functional teams
  • Participates in design reviews, design documentation and software and algorithm verification and validation testing activities
  • Understands and is able to implement quality system improvements for algorithm development, testing, and implementation
  • Develops processes and tools to streamline data quality checks, data processing, and algorithm verification and validation
  • Works in close consultation with important medical strategic partners
  • Prepares technical and management reports
  • Assist in preparing publications and grant proposals

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. / M.S. in Biomedical or Electrical Engineering, Signal Processing, or Neuroscience
  • Requires 5-10 years’ experience in classification-based algorithm development, specifically focused on real-time applications involving linear and nonlinear algorithms and features (or equivalent experience/training in Biomedical Signal and Image Processing focused on Neuroscience/EEG)
  • Specific knowledge and experience in biological signal processing, including EEG a plus
  • Demonstrated experience with Matlab, R, Python
  • Knowledge and experience with optimization of signal processing algorithms using analysis, simulation, experimentation and translation into product based solutions
  • Medical device industry experience; neurology products and FDA experience a strong plus
  • Familiarity with full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and best practices in software engineering
