Director of Market Development

Position Overview

  • Reports to Chief Commercial Officer to start
  • Full Time position located in Bethesda, Maryland (Washington DC metro area)

The Director of Market Development will develop and implement strategies and tactics within the head injury assessment market. This individual will act as the lead in developing and implementing an overall U.S. plan for growing BrainScope’s revenue and ensuring BrainScope captures and retains customers. This individual will focus initially on specific target markets and will develop a plan that successfully influences the stakeholders (health systems, payers, providers, distribution, etc.) that impact these customers’ buying decisions. This position will establish & build relationships with key decision makers, focusing at the national level.  Critical to success will be leading a coordinated sales/marketing/services approach to drive overall sales of the BrainScope One product & service portfolio to meet and/or exceed sales goals. This person will work closely with Business Development, Customer Care, Reimbursement/Payer Relations and Clinical teams in effectively demonstrating success to the overall organization.

Job Description:

  • Develop and lead strategies to grow BrainScope’s presence and revenue across all priority customer segments as appropriate
  • Develop BrainScope’s value proposition relevant to the various stakeholders that will drive growth in the business
  • Acts as the champion for driving our business within BrainScope’s various markets, providing a coordinated BrainScope approach
  • Establish, maintain and grow business relationships with key BrainScope accounts working to understand and meet customer’s needs consistent with the BrainScope mission
  • Achieve BrainScope sales goals through team selling within the corporate suite environment; provide accurate forecasting where required
  • Utilize marketing skills to improve market share, sales and gross profit for the business
  • Develop and manage value propositions and key messaging with literature to enhance sales through various distribution channels
  • Effectively interface with pricing & contract function groups to facilitate effective pricing strategies
  • Demonstrate self-initiative by creating customer focused programs, in conjunction with company leadership that meet specific BrainScope channel needs
  • Lead product and/or company branding efforts that captures the value of the company vision, mission, values and guiding principles
  • Establish strong internal network with various BrainScope departments to support business objectives and programs, including finance, field sales, pricing & contracts, customer implementation and customer service, clinical education, legal and administration
  • Keep pace with the rapidly changing head/brain injury landscape to inform BrainScope strategy

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) in Engineering or Science-related discipline; MS and/or MBA strongly preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in healthcare sales, marketing or business/market development; 5 or more years’ experience developing & expanding new product and/or services offerings to pursue untapped opportunities, preferably within the medical device diagnostics space
  • Ability to travel 25% of the time required

Skills and Abilities:

  • Understands and supports the product evaluation and adoption process within the various channels described at the executive level and the role of key clinical decision makers and influencers
  • Understand the patient journey and the inter-workings of the healthcare market (reimbursement, providers, distribution, etc.) that impact/influence patient care
  • Experience and solid understanding of the interdependencies on reimbursement/payer, value-based business models, etc.
  • Strong critical and strategic thinking skills with proven track record of translating strategy into execution & results
  • Goal-driven, confident self-starter with a willingness to continually embrace professional development and a passion to excel
  • Ability to operate effectively in a team-oriented culture
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
  • Must have good computer skills, especially utilizing power point and excel
  • Demonstrated exceptional written, oral communication, presentation and strategic thinking skills
